Coming out to my family as GF was pretty easy. They didn't really seem to have much reaction either way. But, I'm nervous about asking them to call me a different name. Part of it is because of my mother, who had a stroke, so it would be really hard for her to make that kind of change even if she wanted to. I'd be fine with her calling me by my birth-name under the circumstances, but then the rest of of them would have to do so around her so she won't get confused. Is it even worth asking them?
It’s up to you! I honestly don’t think it would be a burden to ask your family to do this for you. It may be a struggle at first, but it’s definitely doable!
